This book is intended for all kinds of musicians. It is both for young music students and for experienced players who would like to discover new perspectives on melody, swing, concept, improvisation, and sight-reading.

To make the studies more easily accessible to young students, particular consideration has been given to the tonal range, simple keys, and a good rhythmic playability. At the same time, I have tried to make the studies interesting enough with regard to melody, harmony, and rhythm to be enjoyable also for professional and experienced musicians, I hope.

The inspiration for this book mainly came from my music students who take great pleasure in playing such studies.

Assistance in learning the tunes is provided by a CD enclosed in the book - in a first version, I demonstrate the pieces on the corresponding instrument. The second version is for playing along, accompanied by a hard-swinging rhythm section.

At this point I would like to emphasize that learning the studies will quickly improve sight-reading skills as well as the feeling for tempo, form, and phrasing in young players.
